Hindu People’s Party (HPP) leader Arjun Sampath has said that the Chief Minister should take action to stop the demolition of temples in the name of de-occupation.

He spoke at a hunger strike in Valluvar Kottam, Chennai yesterday:

The DMK has never had the courage to stand alone in elections. However, the DMK has won the elections. People have given an opportunity to DMK to implement good projects. We too believe in voting democracy. Currently, the BJP is contesting alone and getting the highest number of votes.

Tamils and Hindus are political orphans in this soil. Hindu People’s Party Not against the hijab. We are in favor of hijab. We do not intend to destroy the DMK and AIADMK. We need to implement many good projects in Tamil Nadu. Thus he spoke.

He later told reporters:

The temples are being demolished under the guise of de-occupation under the DMK regime. We support the removal of occupations. To this end, even 40-year-old temples are being demolished, much to the chagrin of devotees, claiming that the temples are located on water bodies.

The Chief Minister should focus on this and order the authorities to take action so that the temples are not demolished. Since the DMK has won the local elections by abusing its ruling power, it should declare this election invalid and hold re-election. The Chief Minister’s silence on the issue of student suicide is painful.

Thus he said.
