The tradition of Kanjak Puja is going on in our society for many years. It is believed that without the worship of Kanjak, the auspicious results of Navratri are not attained and the grace of the mother also remains incomplete. In Kanjak Puja, girls up to ten years of age are seated and worshiped considering them as Durga. This tradition is also known as Kumari Poojan.

It is mentioned in Puranas
According to Skanda Purana, a 2-year-old girl is a Kumari, a 3-year-old girl is called Trimurti, a 4-year-old girl is Kalyani, a 5-year-old girl is Rohini, a 6-year-old girl is Kalika, a 7-year-old girl is Chandika, 8 years old. The girl child is considered to be Shambhavi and the 9 year old girl is considered to be the form of Maa Durga. At the same time, a girl of 10 years of age is called Subhadra. The number of girls in Kanjak Puja should not be less than two and not more than nine. In Kanjak Puja, a little boy is called Batuk Bhairav or Langura. It is believed that just as Lord Shiva has placed one Bhairav on every Shaktipeeth, in the same way it is necessary to keep a child in the worship of the girl child. That’s why a Bhairav is placed in the Kanjakas.

These changes come in life by worshiping Kanya
Worshiping a girl gives special grace to the mother. It is believed that without the worship of Kanya, the full fruit of Navratri is not attained. Due to this, Mata Rani is pleased and blesses her with happiness, peace and prosperity. By worshiping the girl, the feeling of love remains between all the members of the family and all the members progress. Worshiping a girl from 2 years to 10 years gives different fruits to the person. Like worshiping a kumari increases life and strength. Worshiping Trimurti brings wealth and progeny; Worshiping Kalyani brings happiness, learning and victory. Worship of Kalika removes all the troubles and worship of Chandika brings prosperity and wealth. Worshiping Shambhavi ends disputes and worshiping Durga brings success.
