Mumbai. Electric vehicle maker Simple Energy has tied up with US-based battery technology company C4V (Charge CCCV) to manufacture cells in India. The company gave this information on Wednesday. The lithium-ion battery cell is the central unit of any electric vehicle (EV).

Bengaluru-based energy startup Simple Energy introduced the first e-scooter Simple One in August last year. However, its supply has not started yet. Simple Energy said it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with C4V to set up a lithium-ion cell manufacturing ecosystem in India.

Company co-founder Shrestha Mishra said, “By partnering with C4V, we will strengthen the cell supply. This is an important component for us. This strategy will reduce our dependence on imports.” Kuldeep Gupta, Vice President (Strategic Partnership), C4V, said, “C4V is looking forward to this strategic collaboration that will support the growth of the EV industry in India.”
