What happened to Patrick Torrey?
Patrick Torrey’s death was officially announced on the LAB Basketball Club’s Facebook page, the statement said,
Today is a very sad day for the Beckin basketball family. We mourn the loss of Patrick Torrey who passed away this morning.
Patrick was currently playing his senior season at St. Ambrose University and was a member of Pekin’s memorable regional championship team in 2019.I had the honor of coaching Patrick at PCHS and he is always someone I look forward to coming to the gym with. He had a smile that could light up any room and always knew how to make us laugh.
When you coach high school kids, you see them grow. They transform from boys to teenagers right before your eyes.
I will never forget the work Beck did during his senior season. It took him to places he didn’t know. It was a joy to see everything come to fruition as the work began to bear fruit. He certainly enjoyed the trip and his time in the gym with his teammates.Patrick was amazing with the kids on our coaching staff and they all loved him. He was the gentle giant they all saw, both literally and figuratively. He is a larger than life hero to my son.
Our thoughts are with the Torrey family and Patrick’s friends and teammates at this difficult time.
