The immediate past Ekiti Deputy Governor Otunba Bisi Ekbemi died. He is 78 years old.

Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi (born 8 May 1944) is a Nigerian lawyer and politician. He served as the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State from 2018 to 2022.

Bisi Egbeyemi Early Life

Bisi Egbeyemi attended St. Saviour’s Primary School, Ado-Ekiti and Holy Trinity Anglican School, Ilawe-Ekiti (1958) and Baptist School, Ado-Ekiti (1959). He then attended Harding Memorial Secondary Modern School where he obtained his Modern School Certificate in 1962.

He passed his West Africa School Certificate Examination as a private student in 1965 when he was a laboratory assistant at Barabo College, Ekiti, Ekiti and Bursar at Notre Dame Grammar School, Uzi-Ekiti from 1969 to 1972. and both G.E.C. ‘O’ Level and Higher Level Examinations. He then attended the Lagos College of Education where he studied Biology and Physical Education and graduated with distinction in Physical Education. He studied law at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) from 1977 to 1980 and was at the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos between 1980 and 1981, where he obtained his Barrister in Law Certificate and was called to the bar in 1981. Bisi Egbeyemi career

Early in his career as a leader, Bisi Ekbemi was the President of the Law Students Association of the University of Ife in the 1978-1979 session, he was appointed and President of the Judiciary Commissioner and Attorney General in Ekiti State (2002-2003). Ekbemi, who was the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State between 2018 and 2022, died on Friday around 8pm after a brief illness.

Ekbemi’s last public appearance was on February 25 during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

A close associate of Ekbemi told The Nation that the former deputy governor died at a private hospital in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
